The Denver City Council voted and overturned a voter-approved ordinance which allowed for the impoundment of vehicles of any unlicensed driver.
A 9-1 vote is what repealed the law known as Initiative 100.
Councilman Paul Lopez led the charge to repeal I-100. ” “It’s been a nightmare for the city. It’s been a legal nightmare for the city. You had innocent people getting caught up in this. The collateral damage was innocent folks.”
Lopez states that the ordinance allowed for unfair targeting of illegal aliens.
I-100 was enacted in August of 2008. It passed with a 54% vote.
As a former Assistant U.S Attorney, I have had experience in many cases like these. These are very serious charges and if you are accused of a federal crime, you will need a very good attorney experienced in federal criminal charges. As an Assistant District Attorney, I tried over 70 criminal jury trials, ranging from murder, armed robbery, sexual assaults of adults and children and kidnapping, to DUI, assault and simple drug possession.
